Hip Hop Installed at Point Ruston Community

Point Ruston is a new waterfront neighborhood just north of Tacoma, Washington, and next to one of the jewels of the northwest, the 700 acre Point Defiance Park. It is a brand new community offering living, dining, shopping, entertainment, and recreation on the water's edge in one of the most beautiful parts of the Puget Sound. It is built along nearly a mile of shoreline and has panoramic views of both the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, including Mount Rainier.

Managing Partner Mike Cohen and his team have place an emphasis on including Art throughout the project and along the open public walkway connecting Point Defiance Park and the already existing Ruston Waterfront Walkway. Just before the Grand Opening in November, "Hip Hop" was installed in the main plaza area of the project.

Two Latest Sculptures Now Being Molded

Georgia's two most recent sculptures are now in the rubber molding phase. The mold will allow the creation of hollow wax replicas of the clay sculptures. The wax form then goes through the Lost Wax Casting process in the foundry, ending up as a bronze that is nearly identical to the original clay. Since the wax is "lost" in the process, each casting requires a new wax replica - so the rubber molds are used multiple times. Generally, Georgia limits her editions to 15, which means the molds will be used only 15 times and then discarded.
